Is there any study of how much time an average fan spends on the stands watching the game?
Some people arrive late, some leave early, others spend time on the concession stands while there is action on the field……..
So out of the 9 innings, how much does an average fan watch?
I don’t think such a study has ever been made. However, I would estimate an average fan doesn’t pay attention to more than 50% of the game.
Along the same lines, I’ve always found it curious that during any type of ball game (baseball, football, basketball), ALL of the paid attendees are never in their seats at the same time. There is always someone: leaving, returning or standing.
